Feedback is now invited on proposed revisions to the Australian Curriculum. Responses will help ensure the Australian Curriculum continues to remain world-class and meets the needs of students.
On 12 June 2020, Australia’s education ministers agreed it was timely to review the Foundation – Year 10 Australian Curriculum, which outlines the core knowledge and skills to be taught to students from Foundation to Year 10, wherever they live in Australia.
Drama Australia Letter
Dear Member
In addition to the previous email re Arts Funding, Drama Australia urges all members to write to their local Federal MPs.
Drama Australia has written to the Prime Minister and Federal Arts Minister advocating for increased funding to the Australia Council for the Arts to support theatre organisations that did not receive core funding beyond 2021 especially those companies that provide young people with creative pathways and opportunities beyond the classroom.
Drama Australia and Drama Victoria encourages each member to write to their local Federal politicians expressing their concerns about the Australia Council funding shortfall and the COVID-19 pandemic in regards to the decimation of the arts industry. When you write to your local Federal MP please CC The Hon. Paul Fletcher Federal Minister for Communication, Cyber Safety and the Arts at Paul.Fletcher.MP@aph.gov.au.

DRAMA AUSTRALIA NEWS
On Friday, 3rd April 2020, the Australia Council for The Arts announced the outcome of their Four Year Funding for organisations. This grant process is only for small to medium companies as the Major Performing Arts Companies fall under a different arrangement. A number of organisations were unsuccessful and will receive only one year of ‘transitional’ funding.

Among the unsuccessful organisations are several youth arts theatre companies including Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP, NSW), Barking Gecko (WA), Shopfront Youth Arts (NSW), St Martins (VIC), and several other organisations like HotHouse Theatre (Albury/Wodonga), La Mama (VIC), Brown’s Mart Theatre (NT), Creative Recovery Network (QLD), Australian Script Centre, Feral Arts (QLD), Polyglot Puppet Theatre (VIC), PlayWriting Australia and many others across drama/theatre and all the other artforms.
